I am Penny Drake, born 9th April 1982. HMS Hermes set sail with my father Christopher Drake on board. Unknown if he would return to his wife and baby who had yet to be born as he left Portsmouth. I arrived 5 days later and it was the Sunday Mirror who sent my photograph via helicopter to HMS Hermes of me and my mother to my father’s captain who presented him the photograph. I have all these photographs and the amazing photographs of HMS Hermes when she returned with my father on board and I met him the crowd in my mothers arms.

I thank all the serving men and women past, present and future for everything. I will never forget as none of my children will.

    Thankyou

    Penny Drake
